‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Led November Disc Sales to Maintain Year-to-Date Chart Lead

Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine was No. 1 on the top 10 list of physical-media sales for November 2024, according to Circana’s VideoScan tracking service that compiles DVD and Blu-ray transactions.

The superhero blockbuster had previously topped disc sales in October upon its Oct. 22 release. It quickly took over the top spot on the chart of top-selling discs for 2024 as a whole and maintained that lead after November.

The comic book movie, which teams Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine characters, is the highest-grossing ‘R’-rated film of all time, having earned $636.7 million at the domestic box office and $1.34 billion globally.

The top title in November that was actually released during the month was, at No. 2, Warner’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which hit shelves Nov. 19. Director Tim Burton’s belated sequel to 1988’s Beetlejuice sees Michael Keaton return as the “ghost with the most.”

The No. 3 title in November was Toho International’s Godzilla Minus One, released on disc in the United States Nov. 19. The popular Japanese film, which sees Godzilla emerge in the 1940s following World War II, won the Oscar last year for Best Visual Effects.

Other newcomers in the November top 10 included Lionsgate’s The Crow remake at No. 7, HBO’s House of the Dragon: The Complete Second Season at No. 8, and Sony Pictures’ It Ends With Us at No. 9.

November’s No. 4 seller was Universal Pictures’ Twisters, which had been No. 2 in October. The No. 6 seller for the month was Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me 4, which had been No. 3 in October.

Two “Grinch” catalog movies made it onto the November top 10 in the lead up to Christmas. No. 5 was the 2018 animated The Grinch, while No. 10 was the 2000 live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas, both from Universal.

The year-to-date top sellers chart saw a couple recent releases jump into the top 10, with Twisters taking over the No. 8 spot and Despicable Me 4 moving up to No. 10.

Trolls Band Together and Migration, both from Universal, dropped out of the year-to-date top 10.
