

‘Guardians’ Holiday Special, ‘Andor’ Top Weekly Whip U.S. Streaming Charts

Disney+’s “Andor” once again led the Whip Media chart of streaming originals, while the service’s Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special topped the Whip Media chart of streaming movies among U.S. consumers for the week ended Nov. 27.
The Guardians holiday special started streaming on Disney+ Nov. 25. It follows the Guardians of the Galaxy from the Marvel Comics-based feature franchise as they celebrate Christmas and search for a present for their leader Peter Quill.
Disney+’s “Andor,” which started streaming Sept. 21 with the last episode debuting Nov. 23, topped the originals chart for a sixth consecutive week. A prequel to the “Star Wars” spin-off movie Rogue One, the series follows thief-turned-Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the five years leading up to the events of the film.

Rising from No. 3 to No. 2 on the streaming movies chart was Disenchanted, which started streaming on Disney+ Nov. 18. The sequel to the 2007 film Enchanted features Amy Adams, Patrick Demsey, James Marsden and Idina Menzel reprising their roles, with Maya Rudolph among those joining the cast. Set 10 years after the events of the original, the film follows the couple as they move the family from Manhattan to the suburbs.
Rising from No. 7 to No. 3 on the streaming movies chart was Spirited, which began streaming on Apple TV+ Nov. 18. The holiday film, starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, is a modern retelling of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.
Netflix’s new series “Wednesday,” which debuted with all episodes Nov. 23, debuted in the No. 2 spot on the streaming originals chart. The supernaturally infused mystery from director and executive producer Tim Burton is based on the character from the TV show “The Addams Family” and charts Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.
Rising from No. 4 to No. 3 on the streaming originals chart was “Dead to Me,” the third and final season of which premiered Nov. 17 on Netflix. The black comedy stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini.
