‘Luther: The Fallen Sun,’ ‘The Mandalorian’ Top Weekly Whip U.S. Streaming Charts

Netflix’s Luther: The Fallen Sun led the Whip Media chart of streaming movies, while Disney+’s “The Mandalorian” again led the Whip Media chart of streaming originals among U.S. consumers for the week ended March 19.

Rising from No. 2 to the top spot was Luther: The Fallen Sun, which started streaming on Netflix March 10. The crime thriller, starring Idris Elba, is a feature film continuation of the British TV series.

“The Mandalorian,” season three of which started streaming March 1 in weekly episodes, is based on the character in the “Star Wars” universe.

Landing at No. 2 on the streaming originals chart was Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso,” season three of which started streaming March 15. The 12-episode new season finds the newly promoted AFC Richmond soccer team facing ridicule as media predictions peg them to finish last, while team manager Ted (Jason Sudeikis) deals with pressures at work and personal issues back home.

Falling from No. 2 to No. 3 on the streaming originals chart was Netflix’s “You.” Part two of season four of the psychological thriller series debuted March 9. It follows an obsessive lover, played by Penn Badgley.

Rising to No. 2 from No. 4 on the streaming movies chart was recent Best Picture Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All at Once. The film, about a multiverse-jumping mom, also won Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Film Editing, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert).

Landing at No. 3 on the streaming movies chart was Boston Strangler, which started streaming on Hulu March 17. The historical crime drama is based on the true story of the 1960s Boston killer.
