

Paramount Looks to ‘Smile’ Again With Weekend Box Office Through Oct. 20

Paramount Pictures’ sequel Smile 2, a follow-up to the 2022 box office hit ($217.5 million in revenue), aims to repeat history with a projected $22.5 million in opening weekend ticket sales through Oct. 20, according to estimates from BoxOfficeReport.com. The sequel got off to a promising start with $2.5 million in sneak Thursday screening ticket sales.
Meanwhile, last weekend’s surprise, Cineverse’s Terrifier 3, which ended the week with $27 million in revenue, is expected to finish at No. 2 with an additional $11.8 million as the movie dedicated fan base expands to wider moviegoers intrigued by director Damien Leone’s slasher protagonist Art the Clown.
Rounding out the weekend podium is expected to be Universal Pictures’ animated The Wild Robot with $11.7 million in added ticket sales, upping its North American tally past $103 million.
Remaining box office contenders include Warner Bros. Pictures’ Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, with a projected $6 million in revenue, upping its total to $285 million; A24’s We Live In Time ($3 million), Paramount’s animated Transformers One ($2.4 million, $57 million total); Warner’s Joker: Folie à Deux ($2.3 million/$56.6 million); Focus Features’ Piece by Piece ($2.2 million/$7.7 million total); and Columbia Pictures’ Saturday Night ($2.1 million/$7.9 million).
