Shout! Sets April 25 VOD, May 16 DVD Release Dates for German Musical Fantasy ‘The Magic Flute’

Shout! Factory has announced home release dates for The Magic Flute, a 2022 German musical fantasy based on the 1791 opera of the same name by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Directed by Florian Sigl and written by Andrew Lowery, the film stars Jack Wolfe and Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham along with an ensemble cast of international opera stars.
The film, which was released theatrically in early March, will initially be released to home audiences on premium VOD on April 25.
Then, on May 16, the film will become available for digital rental or purchase at regular prices, as well as on DVD and in a Blu-ray Disc + DVD combo pack.
The Magic Flute follows a teen on two journeys: one into a prestigious boarding school to fulfill his aspirations as a singer, and another into a parallel world filed with fantasy and adventure. Tim (Wolfe) has been dreaming his whole life about attending Mozart All Boys School, but in his first days there he is confronted with a hostile headmaster (Abraham). When he discovers a mystical gateway in the school’s library, he is pulled into the fantastic cosmos of Mozart’s opera, where imagination has no limits.
The opera originally premiered at the rustic Theater auf der Wieden near Vienna on September 30, 1791.
