The 37th Variety Press Play Home Entertainment & Digital Hall of Fame took place Dec. 5 at the Montage in Beverly Hills, Calif. The event, established as the Video Hall of Fame back in the early 1980s, this year benefitted the charity City Year.
This year’s honorees were Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination; Jim Wuthrich, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment president of the Americas and global strategy; Walmart’s digital entertainment service Vudu, represented by VP and general manager Jeremy Verba; and Fox Innovation Lab, 21st Century Fox’s research and development center, represented by EVP and managing director Danny Kaye. Eric Berger, EVP and chief digital officer for Sony Pictures Television Networks and GM of Crackle, was awarded the Deloitte Media & Entertainment Leadership Award.
